Journal Journal: this is getting bad
Bush has no plans to turn around our stagnant and worsening economy. It seems every day since he was sworn in things get worse and worse. Now he wants to pass the problem on to our children by spending money we don't have in a selfish attempt to make things a little better during HIS administration (a-la his tax cut and hope that the rich getting so much money back will trickle down and spur on our economy). Reagan had a similar idea in 1981 (which if I recall Bush's own father poo-poo'ed as "Voodoo Economics"). But I give Reagan credit for at least having the spending cuts ready to enact which would have kept the deficit from his tax cuts in check. At the time, Tip O'Neil wouldn't hear of cutting spending, so Reagan got his tax cut and Tip got his fat budget and the American people got stuck with a trillion dollar deficit. Now we pay 33% of our tax money just towards the INTEREST on our 6.5 trillion dollar debt. If Bush was a real leader and not a selfish future-be-damned political nitwit, he would use the fact that unlike Reagan his party HAS control of Congress and make spending cuts which will get us back in the fiscal black. If tax cuts are what he likes, then he can have them. Once we pay off our national debt, we can cut taxes by 33% because we won't be paying all that interest. But that would be too far in the future for Dubya. 9-11 will go down as the moment that allowed a scheming oil money backed simpleton to dupe America into thinking he was a leader long enough for him to REALLY screw up the country for the next 10 years.
