Journal Journal: AMD Slashes Prices for Server Chips / Mobile Processors 50%
2004:02:16:09:14 - PC PRO (free reg required) reports that AMD is slashing the prices of its server chips and mobile processors by as much as 50%. Athlon XP-M, on the desktop side, is expected to see price breaks up to 20%. Actual pricing is available on the site.
This follows Intel's recent price reductions on its P4 chips, following the release of Prescott.
Truly, things are heating up between the two rivals, as AMD wins contracts from Microsoft, IBM, and Sun - primarily for its 64-bit Operton chips. But don't count Intel out yet.
