Government offices may now gain free access to computer softwares that are reliable, less complicated, secured, and modifiable as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) unveiled recently the open source system (OSS), the very first in the country, that promotes developer-user mutual learning environment.

this is INSANE! i just got a whif last night (via the NEWS) that Philippine Congress is trying to enact a bill that will limit the selling and buying of optical media to circumvent piracy! this is total bull! gotta research more.

i gotta research this. this quite an old story here since this was implemented around Sept 2003.

there is a new taxing scheme from the Philippine government covering software! there is 30% tax on all imported software (purchased locally or internationaly). what the #@$*!!

even if the software is FREE! it gets taxed!
