Journal Journal: I *prefer* to have windows on my box, not linux.

(before i say anything, please lower your flamethrowers...)
Well, people - the header says it all. I prefer windows on my box to linux for 5 main reasons: (correct me if i'm wrong)

1) Hard for newbies to learn/install - it took me about 3 hours+ to install linux on my box, and i had a tutorial sitting next to me.

2) Compatibility - Now i know that there are things like crossover, wine and windose emulators out there, but they tend to be quite taxing on resources, plus if you had windows you wouldn't need one.

3) Many distros - this one's kinda related to point 1, scince there are so many distros it can be hard for a newbie to know which one's right for them.

3) Linux Zealots - ok, this really isn't related to the discussion, but i tend to get quite annoyed by their constant insulting of ANYTHING to do with either MS or Bill. Sure, microsoft does make mistakes (let's face it - it makes quite a few) but with a big company, you've got to expect that

4) Messy Standards - where standards do exist, they tend to do so in a bad manner. eg: i much prefer c: and d: than /dev/null and mountpoints. I'm not suggesting you copy windows, i just think something a little better might be able to be produced.

5) Windose copying - well, i'm pretty much screwed here if i think i'm not gonna be flamed for this, but here goes... Gnome, as a desktop environment, isn't bad - but the main thing here is KDE and other linux GUI programs mimic the windows "look & feel". I'm aware that there are progs out there that aren't anything like windows, but one hekava lotta linux users are using an O/S which has a GUI that looks much like windows.

Well, that's my rant - please don't flame me as all i am doing here is expressing my opinion. Any constructive criticism is welcomed.
