Ten days ago I asked Akimbo for help getting my laptop and the Akimbo Player to be nice with each other. They wanted the same IP address. Not hearing from them, I pinged, got response.

Maybe my laptop needs to use dynamic address assignment, DHCP, is the advice. I'll try it.

What's with thier not getting my request for help?

One week of Akimbo at home.

Selections is still very limited. Not the outrageous almost empty plate of the first days, but still limited. No TMC, no Naked News, no CNNxx, no World Affairs Forum. Some channels are there, but with three or fewer offerings.

Quality: just fine. One show had a couple of hiccups on playback. Most have played from beginning to end just like a tape.

Lack of commercials is nice.

Couldn't get remote control to also talk to the TV, so there are 3 remotes on the coffee table. I should try again. It would be nice to adjust volume with the Akimbo remote.

LinkSys wireless unit came with instructions for use that did not include an Akimbo installation. I guessed I could just plug it in, and that turned out to be right.

says today Akimbo starts operating. Also, today a pleasant female called to verify my credit card number, which I ahd entered incorrectly, and said my Akimbo Player would ship today.

Today Akimbo emailed me that my Akimbo box "will ship the week of October 18". I could receive it Oct 19 or 20 or ... but certainly by November tooth.
