Journal pleasureprogram's Journal: $20 Million Gift to Stanford Cancer Stem Cell Research
In Cancer Biology graduate courses today there is a huge debate over the best way to treat a cancerous cell. Is the cell cancerous because of its mutations? or are there specific mutated cells "cancer stem cells" that continually slough off aberrant cells and do not die. This latter theory is taking hold (it's definitely true in Leukemias.) Today Stanford received a $20 million dollar grant to study these cells, not to be confused with embryonic stem cells.
