Journal Journal: Poppin' the Cherry of this Journal
This is a wack-ass attempt to write in the journal . . . but I wanted to do this, as I usually don't fill out any journal or posts on other sites. For realio - this website is one that should be frequented (even though there are many biased opinions towards OSS). But you get the greatest insight on the current state of technology, from thousands of points of views.
Just graduating from the 2nd best research university in the nation, I consider it an atrocity to have graduated from that institution without ever learning the value of OSS and its great contributions to the software engineer. Best development practices are exemplified by developing OSS, not through the crap in school.
However, I am not saying that it was a waste of time. The best educational tool I recieved from UCSD is the ability to pick up any book on any programming language, method, or any systems book, and to be able to read and learn through it on my own. Understanding the theories behind it has also made development and implementation more efficient and insightful. No more bloat code, no more inefficieny; coding becomes a beautiful art, sculpting, creating, and constantly growing - hearing the flowers grow; seeing the water moan; feeling the bird's sad song; now killing another person without doing any harm to him/her (except maybe to their ego).
