Journal Journal: Design the perfect country

Has anyone ever tried to design the perfect country? I know there have been Utopian experiments in the past, but since the explosion of open source and the internet, has it ever been tried online? It's a huge task, but one that would lend itself well to the web. Think about it.

Take the open source development model, apply it not just to government, but to all aspects of civil life including city planning, transportation, resource management, education, everything. Divide the problem up just the way a large project like Gentoo or KDE is divided, and people would contribute to the area that interests them the most.

You could even take the whole 'your rights online' thing to the next level and allow people to apply for citizenship. Very cool.
