Journal Journal: Quake-4 My First Impressions

I Have been a long time fan of the most popular FPS games of all times Quake-III Arena. My expectations were really too high for the next release of the game by ID/Raven Softwares. The game is a big let down from the multiplayer point of view. The graphics are good(but not neat). The only reason a FPS game (or any other computer game for that matter)does well is because of the cleanliness/ease of play and speed of the game.
First of all the system requirements... which are similar to DOOM3 are too heavy. The game gives an average 40-50 FPS on a high end Graphics card with a GPU, so you can understand how it will fare on the other systems.

In Quake-IV Multiplayer though has added their own interface of brackets for organizing tournaments etc... but I don't think it will be of much help when the gameplay is actually worse then the previous one. All in all the new release is a let down and I think gamers all round the world will expect a better game of the rumuors that are aroud that Carmack and co. in ID are starting over a totally new game from scratch. Lets hope the next time whatever they comeup with is not that big a let down. -- Majjj
