Journal Journal: Last day CVPR 2003
So here I am sitting at the Monona Terrace Convention Center here in Madison, WI attending CVPR 2003.
What is CVPR? CVPR is an international conference for Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition. It is a gathering of the world's brightest minds for the purpose of computer imaging. Some topics covered at CVPR included face recognition technology, object tracking, pattern recognition, image restoration, as well as slew of other topics.
Being a first year Computer Science graduate student, I find myself overwhelmed by the level of detail discussed at these conferences. I have learned that there is a huge range of topics in mathematics pertaining to computer vision that I have never even seen before. I like to call this "crazy math" but hopefully as I progress in my studies, this "crazy math" will look less like hieroglyphics (sp?) and more like something that I can understand.
In retrospect, being my first conference, I find myself very excited about the field that I am about to devote my life into. CVPR 2003 is definitely the event that broke my hymen. Hopefully I will keep focused and most importantly interested, but who knows where my future (or anyone else's future) lies.
