Journal Journal: psychopaths and the American Dream
Anyone following the news flow, has to ask themself if things are getting worse or if this how it's always been. The best read I had this year was found by accident while browsing around.
psychopaths and the American Dream
It's bit long but I think it's a seriously good read (it mentions Bill Gates ;) ).
The rest of this text assumes you have read it.
Ok, if the "psychopathic traits are not so much the result of poor socialisation, but reflect neurobiological abnormalities." then is it fair to assume that it could to some extend be genetic??
whoahh, hang on. What am I saying??
I don't have the expertise to make any conclusions, but since this is slashdot.....I'll play with the idea..
I always get very weary when people start talking about genetic personality properties. It's very dangerous and it's almost impossible to prove one way or the other and the implacations can be tremedous. But here we go anyway (remember it's not intended as a serious position of me).
In a jungle, what properties (of individuals) will survive? Will the "empatic" tiger survive? Will the "empatic" chimpansee survive? Will the "empatic" human survive? With survive I mean to pass on the (again, huge assumption) "empatic" property to their offspring. If we create (I do belive we create) a society which rewards "unempatic" properties and punishes "empatic" properties we should all end up with "unempatic" properties...
So what am I suggest? Well we have to scan everyones brain and put the "unempatic" ones at guantanamo bay.
LOL....It was a joke..couldn't resist...(giggle). Sorry, I am back.
Seriously, we can just stop rewarding "unempatic" people. As long as they are rewarded, they will be looked up upon, and this is what really bothers me. Time and time again I see these people getting positive attention for "their result based approach". Is this what we want? A society run by "decisive decision makers"?? Strong leaders?? I realize that we wont see any overly "empatic" generals in the army (war is a funny thing), but to have these running a country or a company is highly inappropiate.
