So my latest install of Gentoo was mostly finished when somebody in my house turned on a hair dryer and blew the breaker. I have lost track of the number of times I have tried this install. Gentoo takes a little over twelve hours to install from a stage 1 tarball, plus whatever time one spends editing config files. Since I cannot spend my entire day waiting between steps to make the edits, I wrote a script to perform the installation for me. I cannot complain too much about the difficulty in installing Gentoo, as this has allowed me to learn more about the way Portage works than just reading the manual. Also, my install script is slowly evolving from a quick one-shot script to a potentially useful tool. If I ever get it to the point of not being embarrassing, I will make it available for public review.
