Journal Journal: Four tests in three days

Well, I guess it's technically four tests in two days, since I don't have one on Thursday. Right now we're enjoying the calm before the final test this week. I doubt we're going to pay any attention at all in 355, since we'll be burned out completely. Looks as if it's going to be a video game/movie night.

Emi is blogging right next to me in one of the computer labs in Howe. Somehow this seems like a misuse of engineering computer resources. I suppose no one else is really using the lab anyway, so might as well have some fun.

I linked Mailbox to Strangetalk yesterday with a 350 MB file (3dmark2005), and it seems to have taken the load well, surprisingly enough. Must be all that open source goodness.

Journal Journal: E-Ball Aftermath

Well, I thought it was fun. Megan and I love to dance, and so we did for most of the time. She's really cool. I'm still in wonder as to why I didn't notice this before. I'd hate to use the phrase "a real good friend" for right now, for that carries with it some negative connotations. There's nothing negative about what went on last night. I had fun, and took lots of pictures. I even saw La Diabla, and managed to have a decent conversation with her. Odd.

Journal Journal: Healed Foot & The Week of Terror

So, let's start with the incredibly good things. E-ball is tomorrow, and my foot is almost back to normal.

I'm working on three hours of sleep after an almost all nighter for homework. I'm a bit out of it, running on four cups of coffee. I don't normally drink coffee, so that says something. I am certain that this journal entry won't make any sense tomorrow.

I work lunch tomorrow, over at Maple Willow Larch. Oak Elm's floor is being torn up this weekend due to a broken sewer line. This maintenance was slated for Christmas break, but apparently crossing a pregnant woman (my boss) is not a good thing to do. They rescheduled it to this weekend, which is a heck of a lot easier and more convenient for the workers.

I'm charging up the batteries for the digital camera in preparation for the E-ball. It should be a fun time.

Journal Journal: Parking Ticket and Screwed Up Foot

Yesterday was the career fair. One employer took my resume, which is wonderful. Looks like I have too low of a GPA to qualify for an internship, though. Lots of companies also accept resumes online, so I'll send some within the week. Might as well.

So last night I went to Emi's to do some homework. As I was walking to my car with Katie and Greg, I somehow overstretched my foot and screwed it up. YAY. With the e-ball in only a couple of days, too.

It feels better today. Enough to hobble to class, but not to dance.

So I get to Freddie, and there's no visitor parking spots left. The only available parking lot is 1/4 of a mile away. Not a good decision to walk that on a potentially injured foot. So I parked closer. Right as I was preparing to go, I see DPS putting a ticket on my car. Great.

Today, I talked with a girl in my Soc 291 class, who is a DPS officer in her spare time. She said not to bother with an appeal, since my story isn't grounds for nullification. There's $12 I didn't need to spend.

Oh, and did I mention my foot is screwed up? Doh.

Journal Journal: Dinner at Blair's

So I was discussing with Blair whether or not people really need to discuss every personal moment online.

So I'm going to type what she does for the next couple of minutes.

She's reading. Now she's telling me to go to a website. I wonder what website she'll tell me to go to.

"Probably not, Blair." - Me
"I have a short attention span too, Blair." - Me

She's reading again. It's a book about women's "fancy bits."

This is a waste of space.

"Oh, a breast!" - Blair, commenting on the contents of her book.

So I tried to call Megan, but she had a busy day, so it's understandable that she may just want to go to sleep instead.

Blair is still reading.

Journal Journal: 24 Hour Walmarts

Why, oh why is there a 24 hour Walmart in Ames, Iowa? This does not make any sense.

That being said, I was able to buy a clock radio for the pots and pans area at dining services so the people working there can listen to the radio instead of the constant sound of running water.

I also bought more rechargable batteries for the camera. Now I'll be able to take even more pictures at the e-ball.

Journal Journal: Converge, Damn It

Ever have a function that just won't reduce down to anything but a huge frickin' equation? I know I'm probably missing something, but it seems as though I was never meant to solve this problem.

Astrodynamics does not like me.

Journal Journal: Late Night Laundry

So I forgot to start my laundry early. It's 1:30, and I still have to wait 15 minutes for it to get done.

I managed a two page Fairchild Free Press today, and sent it with Kat to post on the sister floor.

Guess what I didn't do? Homework or study. This is hoping I don't have a quiz tomorrow. Well, I can always study aero structures in Sociology. That's what SSH classes are for, right? For catching up on reading for major-specific classes? No? Oh well. It was worth a try.

Oh yeah, did I mention my printer works wonderfully? It's just ungodly slow, that's all. Makes me want to get some new SIMM memory for it, or perhaps an Appletalk to Ethernet adapter. Something faster than what it is right now. Several minutes per page.

We go to ISU surplus tomorrow. Crap, I will have to do the Aero 355 early anyway...

I'll see if I can get a small monitor for cardboardbox. Maybe a laptop for $50, if they have any really cheap ones. Note to self, bring Knoppix boot disk to test potential used computers.

Journal Journal: A Bad Day Turns Into A Good Day

So yesterday was an interesting day. On Friday, I got the phone number of a girl simply by asking. Who knew it worked that way? Anyway, I decided on Sunday to meet her at her room. She wasn't there, and I left a message.

She returned, misread the message, and "prejected" me. For those that aren't "in the know", prejection is a rejection before you even ask anything of the person that prejected you. She then proceeds to tell a friend of mine on Monday that she doesn't want anything to do with me. Oh well.

But that's not the end of the story. Yesterday, I went Celtic Dancing, and then to Stomping Grounds afterwards. Megan was there, and I asked her to the Engineer's Ball, and she said yes. Awesome.

I also managed to install Slackware on my "computer in a cardboard box" and refurbish my old Apple Laserwriter 360 printer. All in all, a good weekend.
