Journal Journal: Small cheap webservers

I often have projects that which would be best served using a small machine with Apache, PHP and MySql installed at the clients site. I would rather create a small application appliance which I could just plug into their network instead of attempting to walk them through installing all of the above components on one of their servers. These projects are often on networks with no internet access so there is no way to setup the systems offsite. In addition, they are "always" on types of systems, such as a network of kiosks. I would expect that you should be able to find cheap small computers since there is always a stream of new hardware on the market. This in turn should push down the prices of used equipment, yet it seems impossible to find truly cheap small computers. I would expect that by now, I would be able to pick up a cheap set top box with with linux installed for under $200. New shuttle systems seem to run around $500 and used certified pre-owned mac mini are about the same price. I've looked on Linux Devices but there does not seem to be a marketplace for these types of devices. Does anyone have recommendations on where to buy machines for under $200?
