Journal Journal: Security vs. Privacy
Hmmph - because I don't object to the idea that snoopin' can lead to better security - I'm unpatriotic. Someone said there's a price to pay for freedom - no shit! I paid - with just over 20 years. You served your country lately? If so - rock on! If not - try it! (You might like it!)
"Essential liberty" ... the right to total and complete privacy - to do whatever you want UNTIL after you've done somthing (read 'wrong', 'illegal', 'immoral', whatever) and then expect society to catch you - it's all fun and games 'till someone does it to you.
We have essential liberty - as it was defined a couple of hundred years ago. I can object to the guv'ment (watch Leno or Letterman any given night), worship or refuse to worship as I see fit, drive to any state, AND yes - own a gun. Sometimes I think we have it so good all we can do is bitch about it...
But what's even better, is everyone can disagree with me - and not be wrong. I can understand and truly appreciate every response to my latest post except for the anonymous coward that told me to go find some principles and patriotism.
For him, I can only say "get a fuckin' clue, idiot". Patriotism = "Stay out my business"? Yeah right... Again, have you served your country lately?
