This is what I had to say to Amazon when I noticed that they do not offer MP3 formatted song samples. Hell, 96Kbs sample would be small and make my life easy:
Please, include the more universal MP3 format as an option for listening to song samples. Since I use linux and care not for proprietary formats, such as Windows Media Player and RealPlayer, I am at a lost to "listen before I buy". My solution, do not buy CDs I am not fimilar with from Amazon. Not to mention that I am going to look for a site that does offer the song samples in MP3 format and if they offer the CDs I was intending to buy from Amazon, which I do know; I will buy them from the MP3 capable site. Support the people that support open standards -- That is why I run linux after all. Good luck, hope you reconsider not having MP3 formatted song samples. If the reason for not having samples in MP3 format is because of the distributor, then at least put a place holder stating that fact. As it stands, it seems like Amazon is not "with it".
