Journal Journal: Is IBM Up to Their Old Tricks?
Tech Daily Dose has a story on IBM's purchase of Platform Solutions, Inc., a small but crucial competitor that enabled IBM's z/OS to be run on other systems besides IBM's mainframes. IBM and PSI were also involved in a court battle where IBM accused PSI of patent infringement and PSI accused IBM of antitrust violations. I assume IBM didn't like the prospect of losing their lock on the mainframe market or a protracted court battle. The deal itself might even have antitrust implications.
