Journal Journal: what a weird world...
between sysadmin jobs and found
out that one of my oldest friends,
from HS, that I haven't seen in years,
works for AMD. How cool is that?

I have a strong lead on a new job working for a guy that owns a server farm that hosts mainly streaming things, but needs a *x geek and all-purpose admin to keep the place in one piece and do the nuts-and-bolts stuff while his streaming audio and video geeks do their thing. We hit it off real well on the phone, and he was comfortable enough about something to let me know that he was very liberal in keeping his staff supplied with geek-toys and caffiene. We meet Thursday afternoon or for a lunch meeting Friday. Shake the mojo stick for me
I will have an FTP site up soon. It will not be modem friendly, but if a modem user browses it and sees something they like they can contact me via the link on the main page http://somelinksandablog.blogsite.org/ and we will make some other arrangements to get the phile to them. All initial activity will be anon, but anon users won't be able to upload. This will be a purely leech site, no ratio. If you have something that you feel must be uploaded contact me and I'll give you a proper acct. All items will be scanned and certified by me to be adware, spyware, malware, virus, and trojan free. I'll post the addy later on this weekend.
I got a belkin wireless DSL/Cable router, hardwired my main box to port one, got one USB belkin wireless network adapter for the geek-daughters box. It fucking rocks. I was surprised to learn about putting the 2.4 Ghz phone transcievers at least 10 ft from the wireless network devices, I though the channel scheme would have been totally different. What has truly amazed me so far is that with the shared cable connection both boxes are getting more throughput than the single box through the cable modem sans router, and I was afraid of a bandwidth loss to my box by sharing the connection
I have a new URL thanks to the guys at dyndns.org..that would be:http://somelinksandablog.blogsite.org/
for those who would prefer to go directly to the blog , whaddya know, its:http://theblog.blogsite.org/

I just recently got a new dell 8300 refurbished so I got a hell of a deal on it, 128 MB video, 2 GB RAM, 3.2 GHz P4, 125 GB HDD. Plus I moved into a new apt. with broadband, so I'm a happy camper
Well, I've used up my first dose of mod points. It's extremely gratifying to be given a chance to make a difference in a community that has given me so much enjoyment in the past few years. My intent is to protect the quality of threads I have interest in, even though it means that I personally must abstain from posting in those threads. On another note my "disciplinary suspension" from work is drawing to a close if all is as it seems. It will really be good to be back at the office >:)
