User Journal

Journal Journal: Peculiarity.

There's something very eerie about the idea of SlashCode supporting individual user journals. It's a great alternative to something like LiveJournal, sure, but... something about it just doesn't settle right. Slashdot's role in the community hasn't ever been as a free content provider - it's been as a forum of discussion about specific topics and current events. Although these journals are surely for the purpose of further opening discussion, I doubt they will get much use for anything greater than nonsensical daily banter, just like LiveJournal.
