Journal: Internet possibilities

I was first introduced to the Internet in 1988 when I was at University. The web didn't exist then and the Internet was purely a resource of the acedemic world.

Since then the Internet has evolved into a global communication tool on a huge scale. The main driving force being commercial enterprise. Which we have to thank for pushing the Internet along to the point it's at now.

However, the Internet really is in it's infancy - relatively days old. The extent of the capabilities the Internet has to offer are still under estimated.

I've started this journal to open a debate or at least to start people thinking. What exactly could the Internet be used for...

How can we utilise the unique connectivity the Internet provides to make positive changes to our world?

The Internet is unique in that it allows thousands of people to contribute to a unified goal. Bringing people together in a way that was simply impractical before.

By opening up this broad question to the Slashdot community, (hopefully a very Internet aware and bright community!), maybe we can start to find an answer.
