Journal Journal: So, there's this journal thing...

Not that I haven't noticed the journal before, I've just never before been inspired to type anything in it.

You know, I actually considered filing a couple of patents at one point in time. No, I don't want royalties or anything like that. They'd just have been anti-stupid-people patents. "Sorry you can't patent this thingy and charge people for the 'rights' to it..."

Although it's a much-abused topic on /. I'd just like to say that I find patents as a concept to be stupid and useless. Copyrights, fine within limits. Trademarks, sure as long as you're not a nuclear psychobitch with them. Patents... eh. Not so much. I shouldn't have to file a patent just to keep other people from filing a patent for my idea and then charging me to use it... now feel free to go off about prior art stuff as much as you like, but I feel that I shouldn't HAVE to prove that I had the idea first. It's an idea, just that and nothing more. Yes, I know you "can't patent ideas," but you really can (at least in the rather overtly broken USPTO). Now I'm rambling though. I'll stop.
