Submission + - It's Steve Jobs Turn (reuters.com)

An anonymous reader writes: Twelve years ago Bill Gates had to deal with lawyers questioning him in regards to the Microsoft antitrust case. Now it might be that other tech mogul's turn. Steve Jobs has been ordered to answer questions regarding Apple's iTunes music monopoly.

I explicitly chose NOT to have anything to do with AT&T and now I am forced into it. Does that sound like free capitalism to you??

Yes, it is free capitalism.

If you don't like it you are free to go to another carrier (Verizon, Sprint, etc). Even if you're locked in a contract it's still free capitalism, you chose to enter into the contract in the first place, there are a myrad of contract free wireless services or you could buy your own phone and bring it to the network (or buy a used one).

oh god, how I hate this.

Nothing worse than someone sending a mass "Hey are you going to this!" message. The ensuing excuses why some random person I don't know or care about can't go to the party makes me want to bang my head against the wall. Worst part is I get the message on my BlackBerry and when I log into facebook -.-

This is what I do - I don't even allow the free option. I just say, if you want me to fix it, that'll be such and such. If they say sure, great, extra money for my next gadget, if they say no then I'm not roped in :P

The only exception is family though - still work on my parent's boxen.

I don't have a problem with not shipping the plugin but at least make it easy to get to or make some page just giving a rundown of another repository you can point to that is outside of the distro (like ubuntu/debian). Making users go outside on the internet and hunt down the documentation to do something so simple is ridiculous.

I agree with this - Linux is not there. I just installed Fedora yesterday after going from a *nix hiatus for the past two years (windows is required at work). Before then I had been a daily linux user for the past two years.
First thing I did after installing was I went to go play an MP3. Can't do that. The music player asks if I want to search for the plugin, I say yup. Then it eventually brings me to a page on the Fedora web page saying "we'd love to tell you how to get MP3s working, but we just can't". Really!? 10 minutes later, I finally found a website that gives me a random command to add a bunch of repos to my package manager, and then another command to install the actual LAME plugin. After that I rebooted back to Windows and haven't gone back yet.

The engine power, the handling. A hyundai is an appliance car. Good for getting you between point A and B and not bitching along the way. Kind of like a camry. A sports car is one that has traded durability for pure speed, power, and looks. Not to mention they are a lot more expensive. If you buy all these obnoxious exhausts, fancy wheels, etc to make it _look_ like a car that is way more powerful and way more expensive then you are a tool.
