First, as has already been pointed out, a lot of his criticism is subjective or unfounded.
Secondly, and more importantly; despite these tens of problems that are listed, Linux is still gaining market share against windows. More subjectively; Linux runs "better" on all the PCs I have tried it on. Sure, niche cases like setting up X-Fi cards are annoying, but then they aren't a walk in the park in Windows either.
Finally, this made me laugh the most:

3.3 Many distros' repositories do not contain all available open source software.

(Emphasis mine). So? It would be impossible to contain all open source software ever in a repo. But at least a sizeable quantity is available there, compared to microscopic amounts of "packages" in Microsofts repo (i.e., Windows Update) which is mostly composed of patches anyway.

YouTube Video Sends Guatemala Into Crisis 405

Several have sent word that a YouTube video of recently assassinated lawyer Rodrigo Rosenberg has sent Guatemala into a tailspin. The video of Rosenberg claims that if you are watching, he has been murdered by President Alvaro Colom with help from presidential secretary Gustavo Alejos. "The video spread across the Internet after family members handed it out during Rosenberg's funeral on Monday. In the 18-minute tape, a seemingly calm Rosenberg, sitting behind a desk and microphone, alleges that Colom, the First Lady and two associates were involved in murder, corruption and money laundering. The group, he says, filtered public funds through a state-owned bank for personal gain and to finance drug traffickers. Rosenberg then claims that after Khalil Musa, a prominent businessman and bank board member, had learned of the Coloms' scheme, Musa and his daughter were shot to death in front of a shopping center in April. Rosenberg says the President signed off on the killings."

this really is a case of correlation not implying causation. Otherwise firefox's market share would have decreased from v2 to 3, and will decrease again when 3.5 is released.
Sure, it's a "fact", but I'll bet that in 5 years time this won't be the case. This "tidbit" does not allow us to make sensible predictions about the future of browsers.

It's a shame you will be modded troll for this due to perceived racism against african-americans, despite raising a very valuable point. Guess that's why you went AC, I don't blame ya.

No, this is just genuine racism. There's nothing integral about being african-american that makes one reject learning.

Only the extremely ill, old, young, and those with compromised immune systems will have a problem in more developed countries where antiviral medicine is available.

Your main point is still valid, but I should point out that swine flu currently kills by turning the immune system against the host, by way of a cytokine storm. Therefore, the people with the strongest immune system are more likely to die than the ill, old or young. This was also the case with the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918.

The first and last ones immediately raise my suspicions; they seem highly unlikely at best.

However, it would be odd if photosynthesis could be better described by something other than QM. Anything involving exciting electrons molecules and catalysing reactions using photons is going to be very well described by quantum mechanics.

That's not to say something better won't come along in the future, it's just that currently it's the best theory for that scale of matter.

Scientists Discover Exoplanet Less Than Twice the Mass of Earth 201

Snowblindeye writes with this excerpt from the European Southern Observatory: "Well-known exoplanet researcher Michel Mayor today announced the discovery of the lightest exoplanet found so far. The planet, 'e,' in the famous system Gliese 581, is only about twice the mass of Earth. The team also refined the orbit of the planet Gliese 581 d, first discovered in 2007, placing it well within the habitable zone, where liquid water oceans could exist. Planet Gliese 581 e orbits its host star — located only 20.5 light-years away in the constellation Libra ('the Scales') — in just 3.15 days. 'With only 1.9 Earth-masses, it is the least massive exoplanet ever detected and is, very likely, a rocky planet,' says co-author Xavier Bonfils from Grenoble Observatory. Being so close to its host star, the planet is not in the habitable zone. But another planet in this system appears to be. ... The planet furthest out, Gliese 581 d, orbits its host star in 66.8 days. 'Gliese 581 d is probably too massive to be made only of rocky material, but we can speculate that it is an icy planet that has migrated closer to the star,' says team member Stephane Udry. The new observations have revealed that this planet is in the habitable zone, where liquid water could exist. '"d" could even be covered by a large and deep ocean — it is the first serious "water world" candidate,' continued Udry."

Submission + - Pirate Bay defendants found guilty

Jamamala writes: News leaked early from the Swedish courts that all 4 founders of the Pirate Bay had been found guilty of "assisting in making copyright content available". This was later confirmed as official. All will receive 1 year in jail, and have been ordered to repay fines of 30 million SEK ($3,620,000) between them. However, Peter Sunde (aka brokep) has already explained that this decision does not mean the end of the line in this case: both sides have three weeks to file an appeal.
