How can you say that someone ignoring the bulk of scientific research in the past 150 years could run for office in the most powerful country in history and expect that detail to be discounted as an amusing insignificance? A country with leaders who renounce and oppose basic education is in trouble.

Who says you have to watch something to rate it? Are you the one who actually reads links in Slashdot?

Or watching more than one show per day. Or having watched them in the past, long before Netflix was around, and rating them in their system.

You could add some additional salt to them by always appending/prepending a component of the domain you're logging in, like "passwordYahoo!". It'll shield you from most automated attacks.

My Saturn SC2 had 124k miles when I sold it (carless now) and I didn't notice that at all. I had noticed something similar in my previous Mazda Protege.

Seriously, I don't know why Saturns didn't sell much much more, and given the prospects for high gas prices, why did they kill the brand over any of the other divisions.

Bikes don't produce the same amount of damage to the road surface as cars and trucks do. That said, I'd love to pay a use toll if that means we have more bike only ways. Taxes on bike tires are fine with me as well, or any other fair and sensible financing method.

Then there's no passing until there is room to do so safely. Making it on time to a meeting is not worth risking someone's life.

We were a 2 car household. After getting a copy of How to Live Well Without Owning a Car, I sold mine, and I'm trying to convince my wife to give up hers, which mostly sits idle downstairs. We live in Mountain View, not exactly an urban center, and carless life is very much viable, even with the deficient public transit infrastructure in Silicon Valley.

I know a guy who grew up in south Texas, in a Mexican immigrant family. The guy is hilarious. When he drinks, he forgets English. Literally, he has to ask other people to translate. The thing is that when he's sober he's got perfect grammar and a Hollywood accent.

The mother tongue usually carries on for at least a generation, sometimes longer if there's critical mass geographically. English is still dominating, but in many places you don't need it, and it actually won't help you...

The point is that the bacteria that ferments grain into beer cannot live past a certain alcohol concentration. The same thing goes for wine, with the limit around 14-15% for most types.

I've been saying this very same thing to non-vegetarian animal rights activists and people who generally find hunting for food disgusting. One thing is true: If I could choose between being a farm animal or a wild one that's hunted down, I'd pick wild every time.
