you need to qualify that you still want the same dot pitch as your current screen. I have my entertainment PC hooked up to a 120" 4:3 screen in my basement which pretty much covers a wall but as its 1024x768, I'm not rushing down there to go code on it. I prefer my 1920x1200 + 1080x1650(portrait) setup until I can get a minority report style thing going on.

Hey I took the Mac boys seriously as I'm in the market for a new personal computer just now. So I went and priced up a i7 920 desktop system with as much memory as I could get and the latest GeForce graphics and 12 GB of RAM. Now obviously I couldn't find a Mac to get anywhere close to my local custom system but as near as I could get the difference was around $1500. When I compare to a Dell am still looking at a difference of almost $1000 and for a system that hardly compares.

Argue all you like, Mac buyers still appear to me to be dupes. When that changes, I will buy a Mac. Obviously I wont run Mac OS X because I want something that is intuitive for me and whilst I find Ubuntu very easy to use and I'm used to Windows, I can't find my way to do the simplest things on a Mac. Each to his own I guess. I'm just glad I don't have to pay the Mac tax.

Also, the first thing I do when I install windows is to fire up IE and go get Firefox. Once installed I tend to only use Firefox unless something wont work without IE.

Can anyone tell me how I get to download Firefox if IE doesn't come pre-installed on Windows? Remember I can't go get it with FileZilla because I'll need IE to go get that too. If your answer involves the command line then well I'm sure that millions of regular users will be just ever so grateful once IE is gone from a default install of Windows!

Apps I regularly use:

=> UPP C++ IDE and class library - works just as well on Windows and Ubuntu
=> Skype - appears to work fine on both too
=> Cisco VPN - I have to get an open source version for Ubuntu but it actually works better than the official Cisco version (doesn't disconnect all the time)
=> SVN client = same
=> Open Office appears to work just as well if not better than MS Office and I've not found any compatibility problems
=> Counter-strike source runs great under Ubuntu, even on my crappy 8500GT
=> Firefox - same ....

and so on.

Ubuntu is easier to install then windows so I'm actually wondering why I'm sitting at a Windows PC. As a software developer most of my users use Windows but I need to test on Windows XP, Windows Vista 64, Ubuntu 32 bit and Ubuntu 64 bit so yes I was stupid enough to go buy Windows Vista Ultimate edition.

It seams to me that Crysis is the sequel to Far Cry. I haven't played FC2 because I saw it was made by different people. How can it be a sequel if some big publisher has simply bought the name?
