Instead of spending $$$ on bondage and discipline, how about treating your users like adult human beings? In real enterprises, there are call center people and sales people. Both groups of people can not be treated like adult human beings. To do so would be like asking a three year old what it wants for dinner. Sure, he's happy for a while, eating cookies and ice cream for dinner, but then you've got to deal with cleaning vomit off of everything, and 10 years later, he's getting his feet cut off from diabeetus.

FCC Meets To Investigate Cookie Abuse 159

PreacherTom writes to tell us BusinessWeek is reporting that the FCC and the Center for Digital Democracy plan to meet in order to discuss abuses with regard to cookies. From the article: "Online advertisers have a sweet tooth for cookies. Not the kind you bake, but the digital kind — those tiny files that embed themselves on a PC and keep tabs on what Web sites are visited on which machines. But cookies could have a bad aftertaste for consumers. Privacy advocates say the files are being force fed in large quantities to computer users, and they're demanding that the government put some advertisers on a diet."

Projecting Data on a Sphere 139

necro81 writes "The NYTimes has an article in today's Science section that describes a four-projector system that displays images on a spherical screen. The Science on a Sphere system, developed at the Goddard Space Flight Center and used in some planetariums, can display and animate vast amounts of visual data from the Earth, Moon, Sun, and the other planets. The sphere is suspended by thin wires, and animating the image data gives the illusion of a free-floating, rotating world."
