1. If you use it you'd know

2. Something like Adblock's definitions (Easylist etc), for Noscript would work well but it would need to be maintained. This, in my opinion is one of the main reasons why noscript hasn't become popular. People need an effective starting point after installing noscript.

3. Not really; the key word there being "selectively". Something like a checkbox control might work better. There are many sites with 10-15 scripts and managing these becomes a bitch with so many clicks

Submission + - IE9 Preview Touts Cross Browser Compatibility (msdn.com)

An anonymous reader writes: Microsoft's Internet Explorer 9 development team has announced the availability of the third IE9 platform preview release on the IE blog. Dean Hachamovitch writes, 'The third Platform Preview of Internet Explorer 9, available now, continues the deep work around hardware acceleration to enable the same standards-based markup to run faster. This is the latest installment of the rhythm we started in March, delivering platform preview releases approximately every eight weeks and listening to developers. You’ll see more performance, same markup, and hardware accelerated HTML5.' The announcement focuses on cross browser compatibility noting that when 'developers spend less time re-writing their sites to work across browsers they have more time to create amazing experiences on the web'. Curiously, however, the video embedded in the page only works in some browsers. Dear Microsoft, IE9 supports many royalty-free, web compatible formats out of the box (HTML, CSS, WOFF, PNG, and the like) so why not at least one more?

I really was fine with Noscript as a concept, but there are three very serious flaws I find:

    1. Noscript cannot be turned off completely unless the extension is disabled. Even if you allow all scripts globally it still filters some stuff. That's a huge annoyance when I just need to open a site fast, that I need to disable and restart

    2. Noscript doesn't have ready made reliable whitelists. e.g. something that blocks all web analytics and harmful scripts, and allows all else.

    3. An easy way to enable multiple scripts selectively together.

Sounds a lot like the sample waves Google put up?

Are you connected with Google perchance? I am finding it hard to believe that wives and mother in laws who have "potlucks" can figure out the purpose of wave, let alone add Applets, Maps and pictures. Basically, no offense but I think you're lying.

Google wave is software that constructs a use case that doesn't exist. That's why it's a failure. I wonder if there's anyone who has replaced their email with google wave.

Submission + - Getty's Flickr sales: money spinner or rip off? (pcpro.co.uk)

Barence writes: Photo-sharing site Flickr is offering photographers a new way to cash in on their work. The 'Request to License' scheme allows renowned photo agency Getty to sell photos on behalf of Flickr members. Once part of the scheme, all of the user's photos will carry a Request to License link. People wishing to buy the photos are directed to Getty's staff, who "will help handle details like permissions, releases and pricing," according to Flickr. However, the last time Getty sold images on behalf of Flickr members it led to complaints that photographers were being exploited, with commission on photos as low as $1. So who's doing best out of the deal: photographers or Getty?
