Comment George Zip said that? (Score 2, Insightful) 167

Yes, he looked at me and said, "Doc," he said, "Some time, when the crew is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to get out there and give it all they've got. And win just one for the Zipper. I don't know where I'll be then Doc, he said. But I won't smell too good, that's for sure." Airplane is still one of my top 3 movies of all time. R.I.P Leslie Neilsen

Sony Begins Selling HD Movies On Its PSN 153

itwbennett writes "Sony on Tuesday 'rolled out the ability to buy HD movies from the PlayStation Network,' writes blogger Peter Smith. Sony claims they're the first service to offer HD titles to own from all six major movie studios. Smith runs the numbers on 'standard' pricing for titles ($19.99 for new releases; $17.99 for older movies), file sizes (ranging from 4 GB for Zombieland to 7.5 GB for 2012), and resolution (720P as far as he can tell)."

Game Distribution Platforms Becoming Annoyingly Common 349

The Escapist's Shamus Young recently posted an article complaining about the proliferation of distribution platforms and social networks for video games. None of the companies who make these are "quite sure how games will be sold and played ten years from now," he writes, "but they all know they want to be the ones running the community or selling the titles." Young continues, "Remember how these systems usually work: The program sets itself up to run when Windows starts, and it must be running if you want to play the game. If you follow this scheme to its logical conclusion, you'll see that the system tray of every gaming PC would eventually end up clogged with loaders, patchers, helpers, and monitors. Every publisher would have a program for serving up content, connecting players, managing digital licenses, performing patches, and (most importantly) selling stuff. Some people don't mind having 'just one more' program running in the background. But what happens when you have programs from Valve, Stardock, Activision, 2k Games, Take-Two, Codemasters, Microsoft, Eidos, and Ubisoft? Sure, you could disable them. But then when you fire the thing up to play a game, it will want to spend fifteen minutes patching itself and the game before it will let you in. And imagine how fun it would be juggling accounts for all of them."

Because flying is a service, it is not a right. You do not HAVE to fly, you can choose to travel by other methods. If you want to fly overseas, then you'll have to send you kids through the scanners, or take a ship, PERIOD. If you don't like the rules put in place by the governing body, then don't fly. Simple as that. And, no, it doesn't have to be relevant to the children. This is about the pablum puking squeaky wheels who think they know best for everyone. I personally think the scanners a great tool for the security personnel to leverage in keeping the airlines safe and should be used at all airports.

I have an idea... If you don't want planes blowing up in the air and you don't want your kids going throught the scanners... DON'T F*#@%ING FLY! I swear, all these little squeaky wheel groups need to shut the hell up. We all need to start running our airports like the Israeli's and we wouldn't have all these security breaches.
