Well, the amazing thing about open source software is...you can change it all to suit your needs. Compiz does a pretty nice job of lighting and shadow, and you can always download new GTK themes if you aren't happy with the color choices. So, yeah, compared to the standard windows XP look, where you can only change between 3 different themes and the classic windows look, Gnome does a pretty nice job ^^

wouldn't they take a picknick near Rosneath Road with a pair of binoculars? I mean...if I look at googlemaps and see a blurred out area, it kinda sparks my interest far more than if I see a line that might resemble a submarine.

This is...impressive, but unfortunately, the laser-guided bullet has also been invented. The spotter points a laser beam at the target while all the sniper has to do is fire a bullet. The bullet then changed its direction towards the laser point. Try dodging that =)
