You have your own approaches, as do many who frequent these forums. But the Wild West is gone, cowboy. There's barbed wire everywhere. And yes, in the planned towns, there is a square. And if you aren't in that square, simply put, you aren't going to be heard.

I don't agree with your premise (see my other posts). But let's assume I did - because there's a lesson here.

...if you aren't in that square, simply put, you aren't going to be heard.

No offense - but there was NEVER a promise/right/or whatever that you'd be heard.

Isn't it weird as fuck how the Left suddenly goes full-on Libertarian when it comes to corporations violating our rights in new ways as enabled by technology? Aren't you supposed to be against megacorps?

Sigh.

Corporations violating your rights. You have the *RIGHT* to post on Facebook.

Sigh. You've obviously never admin'ed a system before. Never had to deal people telling you their "rights" to do whatever.

Heck, you probably believe Facebook is going to be around forever.

SMH - Dood...some of us on the left know better. Don't believe me? Think Myspace.

That's how I remember it...and I am 50. Don't get me wrong. Breaking up the long distance companies did help. Remember when you didn't own your phone but "rented" it from the telecom? Or when you had to pay extra for touch-tone. But we're much better now. Why now I get 2-3 robocalls a day from numbers I don't know/care about. Much better.

So...we're measuring a language's security by the applications that were written in it?

Anyone else have an issue with this?
I call BS. You can NOT measure the language's security via the applications written it in. You MIGHT be able to gauge a languages popularity given the number of applications written for it (I do). You MIGHT be able to determine the effectiveness of a language *IF* you take the number of applications with vulnerabilities and divide that by the total number of applications written in that language.

I have to second this option. Java isn't "dying"...it's 2020's Cobol.

It'll be around for at least the next 10-20 years. (There's that much code based of Java out there)

But Java has been dying for years. Applets died a long time ago. JSP and Servlets are pretty much dead in favor of using a JavaScript front-end and a proper application back-end. JDBC will continue to hold java for a number of years...but watch as other languages start taking it's place. Hell, Docker killed Java's last remaining strength - write once, run anywhere. With Docker, everywhere became X86-64bit.

I don't expect C# to do well either.

I can't think of any excuse that would actually excuse that, and "doing it to save some child's life" is flat out unbelievable.

He brings in his kid because there's a specialist at the hospital that can help.

Others at the hospital look at his kid - refuse to send the kid the specialist. When he tries to get his kid back, they accuse him of child abuse and take his kid.
