Yes, I know this propaganda. This is faulty definition. The "owners" are actually using people as the means of production (machinery wouldn't function without them). They effectively steal the time (wealth) of the workers by only paying them as much as is necessary to survive until the next payday. Effectively, all the profit is gained by owners and none by the people who actually do the goddamn work. The workers are literally dehumanized into a "resource" and discouraged from negotiating better terms. This is slavery (the proper name for capitalism). The point of capitalism is accumulation. Not improvement of anything. Just accretion of maximum wealth available, with ejection of the costs to others (externality).
