Comment Not the upgrade, not anymore. (Score 1) 115

There is one windows, only one now, for years.
It's been like this for what, 2 decades? Your PC need to be replaced for any reason, the new one will come with the latest windows.

It's simple, it's unavoidable. There are about 2 billions PCs in the world and if they don't last forever in a few years we will have almost 2 billion Windows 10 devices. What is the real alternative?

And in the off chance that his life, his family and his society is great, as "we" are used to have.... who would loan a camera?

Sure, google will be the winner. But OTOH they will have a map app to use, the same map app that most of the world uses and rely on. Thanks to this guy.

You may get Plex on your Smart TV or other device. But the interface and the experience will be.. good luck. Great on some, terrible on other. Maybe with dolby digital sound, maybe with 4K support, maybe without any of those.
Unfortunately the last is the case on my 65" Panasonic TV. But it's a great set for 4K HDR on both Netflix and Amazon Prime.

My grandma had it. My mother has it know, and it's getting worst.
While I do believe it's too late for her, and even if it's available I will never have anything near the amount of money this may require, there is hope for me and my 2 brothers in 20 years (statiscally, one of us should have it).

Windows 7 was OK. 10 is supposed to be an upgrade to this OS, not only Windows 8. And in that regard yes, Windows 10 is crap. Dont get me wrong: i get the privacy issues but personally I could care less. And I like some features (the new CMD witch CC/CV and the Windows X shortcut are what make me use this as my main OS) but, interface wise, windows 7 was really well done. A great update from this mess.

One out of 3 or 4 "full repair" that I have to do on this software will end up with it be unsitanlled and thats it. Than I have to go back to the origina DVD (or 365 in case of signature - you cant use the same source for both, it would be too easy) and install again. The second problem is finding the install key, there is always a problem and someone misplaced it (on my company or on the small business in question). In the end Office is the only original software that I have to pirate. Its way faster for the user... in case MS ever knock on the dor they will give us days to find all the licenses.

I'm sure there are some problems but in general, the Switch is freaking awesome. I bought it with Zelda, and it's the first time in FIFTEEN years that I'm at work and then think to myself: "oh boy, in an hour or two I can go home and play Zelda!" It's that amazing.

I did have to sell it though. My RSI started acting up and I really really can't risk any problems since I'm self-employed. Damn shame.

THIS! Last time I felt like this I was a teenager, playing Super Mario 64.

Submission + - Ask Slashot: how to live with data cap?

aristofeles writes: The biggest internet provider in Brazil, Vivo (Telefónica Group) will soon be adding monthly cap for internet usage, in a list list with already includes OI and NET . Now the vast majority of the country will have no option but accept the monthly cap or get out of the internet.
And due to the Marco Civil da Internet there is net neutrality, with means that there is no workaround available to give Netflix or games unmeasured traffic as an paid extra feature on the subscription.
Of course, Vivo says that cap is a worldwide trend (Google translate) and the government regulatory agency think it’s good for the costumers (Google translate)

Have any of you guys transitioned from unlimited to limited internet? Do you have any tips on how to adapt?

Comment Will be fun to see (Score 1) 165

Almost every bank in Brazil uses java plugin for security login. Every single .gov.br site that has any remote type of login uses it too. So in one hand, they will have to adapt. Most banks will. FINALLY. OTOH there is no way in hell that the [brazilian] government will adapt in less then.. 5 year I guess. So, from some point forward in the future, I will have to support clients using Internet Explorer.
