Comment innovations, yes... ridiculous patents, yes (Score 1) 347

Of course there are innovations on many Apple products, but ALSO there are many obvious patents (such recent "invention" of scrollbars in touch screens that hide when no use). Imagine if someone many years ago decided to patent a kind of generic "wireless communication device".

Am I the only one who doesn't see that as a problem?

No, you're not alone. Fortunately for many linux users.

Average users who don't want to learn new things about their systems are already well represented. They have several good options. What's so wrong with an OS for those who like learning and want to understand how the system works?

That's exactly what I say to many people: If you are comfortable with their current desktop, don't switch, because you will finish trying to mimic things. Linux desktops are not for everybody, but for people who enjoy to learn and understand things in deep. If you don't like to learn, linux is not for you, period. For me, linux has been a fantastic learning experience for almost 10 years. Not only linux itself, but many technical details about software, algorithms, hardware low level protocols, and a huge list of interesting things. What's the problem with an OS that motivates that?

Comment I'm running KDE too (Score 1) 818

And please, KDE is not a windows clone, if people say that clearly they are not using KDE since years. Of course, there are themes of community trying to mimic windows look, but that is another history, and part of the power of KDE.

KDE is a really good Desktop environment, with a lot of good things for power users... I mean, a *lot* of customizations options, which is not good for everybody, but IS a big difference for many others. But, at the end, the most important thing is that people feel comfortable with their own desktop environment, whatever the name is. Be free is, also, let others be free.

Comment electronic on eInk screens (Score 1) 283

For me, eInk screens are, by far, better than LCDs or others light emitting screens. I read a lot, specially on night, and my eyes are very thankful since I bought a kindle. OK, the screen is slow BUT the device is for read, NOT for playing or browsing.

Comment Very useful (Score 1) 1002

Specially when I have the debugger with several watches; even more useful when debug JS code with FireBug or Chrome Developer Tools... I have two 25'' displays and I want another :D I tried with one big monitor with ultra high resolution, but personally I prefer two high resolution displays (1950x1080). So, the answer is absolutely yes

Comment Works fine for me (Score 1) 2254

As the matter of fact, I like the design, just with few issues: 1) Fix the font color in text boxes: if the system's theme color is using light color for fonts (usually on dark themes) the result is very problematic to read (just right now for me!) 2) Bad alignment poll's options with FF on Linux: the text is below the radio button instead the right side. I don't know why people say the site is slow, actually it's much faster than previous.
