Downvote this garbage, PLEASE. This is becoming such a tired meme born of cynics who fail to objectively look at the world around them. What the hell did people honestly think was going to happen... that Obama was going to change the world and usher in a utopia to please every libertarian and liberal alike? Jesus people! The president is clearly a moderate and a consensus builder. Despite conservative talking points, there has clearly been a concerted effort to engage conservative and liberal proposals and find something that both find appealing... something lacking the last 8 fucking years! Did we suddenly forget that the previous president stopped engaging other nations, ordered people to be tortured, invaded sovereign nations, passed absolutely NO domestic bills to address any looming problems (healthcare? They had the House/Senate/White House), Guantanamo, lying about weapons of mass destruction, an anti-science agenda actively trying to discredit science findings, ousting CIA agents to discredit them, commuting the sentences administration members who committed crimes, Ordering the NSA to wiretap US civilians... did everyone suddenly get amnesia and forget what the fuck happened during the last 8 years of the Bush administration!?

Jesus Christ, people... I don't approve of everything the Obama administration does but shut the fuck up, please... this "meet the new boss same as the old boss" bullshit is so grating. Yes, Obama is a politician and does politician things. Yes, the Obama administration has continued some of the Bush era prcatices. But there is no fucking way you can objectively sit there and tell me he is anywhere NEAR the level of fuckup the previous president was... he is a massive improvement.

Tell you what, come talk to me when Obama knowingly manufactures evidence to start a war with Iran, discredits everyone who knows he's lying, and pardons Timothy Geithner after he leaks classified information to the press... then punches a baby in the face... then we'll talk about how bad Obama is.

Wait... why would copyright limits change this? Lucas IS creating something new. If Star Wars were in the public domain, you'd have hundreds of copies with some different features... like the recent Night of the Living Dead releases. No small company could recreate these films in 3D, it would take a company the size of Lucasfilm to do it. In the process, Lucas is creating something new. Granted, it might be based off a film that had entered the public domain, but Lucas would own the copyrights for a 3D version of the film until the copyright expired.

I know it's chic to harp on George Lucas, but copyright limits wouldn't change this.

Nation Public Radio and, by extension, any member stations such as Minnesota Public Radio, are excellent sources of news. The hosts and journalists are very professional and will often press guests with some good questions... not to mention some excellent calls by viewers. The BBC broadcasts are also great for getting some opinions on sources outside the US.

Public radio is still an excellent source of news and world information.

I think it was a valid post. You began by arguing that Carmack should, "apologize for the hilariously outdated use of monster closets, terrible storyline, idiotic directorial decisions (no flashlight on guns, only 60 seconds of air!!) and extreme "meh"-ness of the entire Doom 3 experience." then continued later saying, "The truth of the matter is that there were tons of things wrong with Doom 3, the flashlight thing was just one of the most apparent."

You were dragging more than just the flashlight into the discussion, and there was a general sense that your comment about vast, vast majorities was about more than just the flashlight. I'd also argue that there is just as little evidence to support most people hated the flashlight decision.

Actually it looks like you're in the minority. According to Metacritic, Doom 3 averages a respectable 87 Rating, it even garners a little over 7 in the user average. Additionally, id software moved over 3.5 million copies of Doom 3 as of 2007

So, I'm going to call bologna that "the vast, vast majority of people disagree", because it seems a large majority of people actually agree that Doom 3 was a decent game.

Fortunately the ACLU defends your right to distribute religious material.

February 21, 2003: The American Civil Liberties Union came to the defense of students in a Massachusetts high school who were suspended for distributing candy canes with Christian messages on them. The ACLU argued that their suspension violated the students’ freedom of speech.

July 11, 2002: ACLU defends the right of Iowa public school students to distribute Christian literature during non-instructional hours of school.

So... thank God for the ACLU standing up for our right to practice religious freedom and expression and keeping Government forced religion out of our lives.

...and thank them for standing up for our fucking right to free expression.

Bono made hit records and believed that qualifies him to solve great world problems.

I do take exception with this example. No matter what one thinks of Bono, wanting to lower AIDS outbreaks in Africa and halting the genocide in Darfur is something that all of us agree with anyways. I don't know if I'd say that is a case of Bono asserting himself where he doesn't know anything, more an example where his wealth and influence has a better chance of drawing attention to an alarming situation.

After all, I can tell a few people in my hometown that the genocide in Darfur has murdered hundreds of thousands of people... but it reaches few ears. Announcing on stage in front of thousands and millions on TV... seems to have a greater impact.
