The official app only allows you to block 1000 accounts. On a site with millions of users. They don't tell you clearly that's the reason; the app just gives an arbitrary error message in 99% of cases.

That's shitty design and operation intended to stop you from blocking all of their advertisers.

Submission + - Ecosystem collapses may occur much sooner than expected (phys.org)

An anonymous reader writes: An article in Nature Sustainability suggests that models may have underestimated the impact of warming on ecosystems. Two main reasons for this are the difficulty in accounting for variability and combining climate change with other pressure factors: for instance, pollution, excessive exploitation of species, deforestation due to increased demographics growth and meat consumption, ecosystem fragmentation, also harm wildlife.

Climate models operate under constant non-climatic pressures and do not consider the combined effects of a more hostile climate and increasing pressures. The models also fail to account for the decreasing resilience due to declining resource availability like fossil fuels.

Climate averages are typically calculated over a 30-year period, but extreme events can significantly affect ecosystems even if they fall within the overall margin of error. It is important to consider variability and the frequency of extreme deviations from the average. The climate system is becoming increasingly volatile, as observed in recent years.

In the linked article, researchers have studied the impact of introducing more volatility (noise) into climate simulations. The result suggests that ecosystem collapse could occur 80% earlier than anticipated by less volatile models, indicating that the impacts described by the IPCC Working Group II may greatly underestimate the consequences.

Well, Adobe is trying to purchase Figma but is running into regulatory concerns. Their entire reason for making this free to students is to hopefully drown out the negative attention from it being .

That said, Figma is not intended to be an Adobe replacement. Adobe is attempting to buy it to bring it into the fold so that they have a more robust collaborative UI design toolkit.

They're called taxes and infrastructure subsidies. The problem here, oversimplified, are twofold:

1. We already paid "Big Telco" billions for infrastructure and they pissed it away.

2. We allow all companies to not pay their fair share and thus the revenues are down.

Governing and taxation are broken.

The only way to get me back (and I assume many others):

1. Spez is immediately removed and gets no $ on IPO for breaking just about every ethical rule in the book. He is a piece of shit human not only for this but many other issues over the years.

2. API access is restored and is reasonably priced. They don't get to determine that price; the market does and the market has spoken.

Windows 11 for ARM runs on my M2 Air w/o issue under UTM as of about a month ago. I could even play some Steam games under it, albeit a bit more slowly than I would prefer, but working regardless.

It's been just fine for doing the minimal things I want to test in Windows w/o moving to the gaming machine.

1. Netflix used to have popular movies and TV shows that were either more prominent (unsearchable/algorithmically curated view is NOT advantageous) or simply are no longer available due to planning or competition from other services.

2. HBO Max is absolutely destroying Netflix (and other services) in quality content--both created as well as curated.

3. HBO Max started coming 'free' with my mobile phone plan whereas Netflix is raising its prices and offering me less quality content.

I realize it's not an easy solution on the content side, but there are other opportunities for Netflix to really make a dent in their losses, but for whatever reason they're just not doing it.
