Comment Re:Linux support (Score 1) 214

I haven't installed windows since 3.11. I have been totally *nix/Linux. I buy proprietary software over the years. I don't need source for everything. I buy my games (both Linux and Windows/Wine). I bought WineX/Cedega back when it was better than Wine for my needs. I bought my scanner software. Before OpenOffice I used to buy all the WordPerfect/WPOffice versions. I bought every version of VMware Workstation since it came out, although I have qemu working quite well, I prefer VMware. I still prefer my paid-for version of xingmp3enc over the other free encoders. I can go on but needless to say I will open my wallet if there is a need.

Why do idiots still use that argument that we all want the source or just go away!? Some of us will pay for a quality product or for a specific need.

Hell, some people still pay for Windows and Windows products instead of downloading them, don't they?

This is rather an example of MS making crap, MS pushing crap, and MS not being able to support their own crap, but still wanting everyone to use it. That's not damned if you do or don't, that's just everyone saying "It sucks, stop pushing it when you can't even use it."

When (if?) Linux finally gains a notable share of the PC market, companies will start to support it, provided it's worth their while. Until then, you've just got to accept that it's a largely neglected platform, and why reverse engineering of protocols is often the only way you can have your own decent client instead of the neglected crap you're forced to use.

However, you just defined "Catch 22"...

I believe this to be true too. They use all their marketing resources to get them boosted above all others.

I love Bones new phone. I was just watching Human Target and watched the winphone interface while Ames took and hung up her call. Normally they'd just push a button and you never see the screen. But Microsoft is paying for some good screen time.

They will win. It is history.

I was probably the penultimate OS/2 fan. Huge respect for BSD after comparing the virtual memory subsystem TOTALLY by accident one day (when only 16meg of RAM was found in my system in a test) and KDE, Netscape, et. al. ran fine but my hard drive was thrashing (Linux PALED by comparison that day) but was barely noticeable.

I still dont use BSD but use Linux every day.

But BSD "it's not dead, after all!"? You put OS/2 in that list.

BSD PROPS!
