An American GI here, I have experienced the healthcare in Australia and England, all I can say is if the health care in those countries is dubious then the health care in the US is atrocious. Why is it most Americans that criticize the health care in Europe, Canada and Australia have never experienced it first hand and just take it for granted ours is better?

I've experienced healthcare in Europe (Sweden) and the US. The care I received in the US was vastly superior. The costs of US healthcare are ridiculous and the insurance business is insane, but if I needed urgent care I'd much prefer it happened while I was in the US.

I can't help but wonder why the grid is so crappy up there in the northeast. 80 mph winds... big whoop. We had that a few weeks ago down here (North Texas). Several trees down in my neighbourhood, many damaged roofs. But power never went out. Didn't even flicker. All power lines here are buried except high voltage. Why can we do it when the northeast can't?

I liked the story but wish I'd gone to the 2D theater...And NOT worth $32 for two tickets. More for IMAX. More for 42fps, someday. They're just guaranteeing that I'll wait for it to come out on Netflix.

I saw Prometheus the release weekend, but waited until Sunday afternoon and watched it in 2D. Even at a very nice theater that only cost me $5.75. At that price point I left happy. The movie was OK with some memorable concepts and imagery. At $16 I would have been disappointed.

It would go a long way toward ensuring a safer, happier humanity instead of this "Well I carry a gun everywhere because it's better me than him." Are you fucking retarded? Try understanding why someone might flip out and start shooting up a post office, for instance.

Actually, you'd find it surprising how few crimes are committed by people who are carrying firearms legally. The criminals don't bother to jump through the hoops of registering, training, getting a license, etc. You'd find it even more surprising how many crimes are prevented by armed citizens.

Not to mention the supreme court has explicitly ruled that it is not the responsibility of the police to protect you.

True. I looked up the statistics for Texas concealed carry permit holders:

If you have a concealed carry permit in Texas you are about 90% LESS likely to commit a violent crime.

My only experience with the scanners was the Dallas International airport. I just politely told them I'd like to opt out of the scanner. The guy pointed me over to another guy and told him I was an "opt-out" in a loud voice. Several people in line looked surprised there was such a thing as "opt out" (sigh). I got a pat down without any junk-grabbing and I was on my way in about 30 seconds.

And Audi is way ahead of Volvo. The actually-on-sale-you-can-go-to-a-dealer-and-buy-it-right-now-today Audi A2 has a sealed hood. There's a plastic flap on the front which covers two spouts into which you can add oil and water, but if you want to touch the engine itself, you need to be an Audi dealer.

It's the car equivalent of the failPhone.
