Dune Messiah was written because Frank Herbert realized that a lot of people didn't understand the intent of Dune (Charismatic Leader should come with warning label). So this much shorter sequel and Children of Dune drive that home. God Emperor of Dune is just logical conclusion of the mechanization of the first trilogy.

In this case, James Vowel came from a world class organization (Mercedes F1) that totally dominated the Turbo-Hybrid era of F1 (they literally won every year except the last one for driver). Mercedes have fall behind Red Bull in the current Ground Effect era, but it's still a well run team. He's going over to the bottom tier team and was shocked at a team that used to make precision parts that other team will buy has fallen so much. Using Excel spreadsheets as a works tracking is only a symptom of the weird work culture that Frank William have built and ossified. Fortunately for him, the new team owner is willing to spend money to get it sort out.

For those wondering, F1 used to have active traction control that's mapped out through the entire course (it will have to be adjusted for every course, and the course condition gathered in free practices). Suspension will adjust depending on where the car was and how fast it's driving and at what it's turn rate is. It's like easy mode on any racing game, except in real life. FIA (governing body of F1 and many other racing) eventually banned it completely.

Government contract (and the fact government cargo are self-insured) means higher price tag. Both NASA and NRO launch are about 30% more expensive than civilian launch due to additional requirements that civilian customer don't care about. ESA is not getting price gauged. They're paying exactly for what they want, and this is still cheaper than Ariane 6, never mind Ariane 5.

In France, more stringent regulation won't kick in until a company exceeds X number of employee. So when a new company got sufficiently large, they WILL NOT hire above that number, and will instead setup a sister company. Remember, whatever measure you come up with, there are always ways of getting around it.

Biden's DOJ is suing SpaceX for not hiring Chinese national who does not have green card or pass security check. Meanwhile SpaceX have to comply with ITART munition export regulation enforced by State Department. Yes, SpaceX rockets are technically ICBM capable of delivering nuclear warhead to anywhere on Earth, so it falls into ITAR. If SpaceX does what DOJ wants, they'll be in violation of ITAR and subject to significant sanction from DOS.
