Now, if suddenly everybody had a quantum computer that could break RSA in polytime, there might be a point to this, but they don't, so there isn't - not that I can see.

If suddenly is in say 10 years time. Then doing this research that will be much more feasible in 6 years time seems pretty smart to me. Just because the technology isnt here now doesn't mean it isnt worth preparing for its arrival

Being a student I still use Wikipedia alot of the time.

To use it successfully you just scroll to the bottom and look at all the pretty references on a subject. 90% of the time you'll find the actual journal articles.technical papers/books that you were actually after.

Wikipedia is a source of infomation. Not an information store.

Opera do not even have a message saying they Pass at 100. Actually Opera seem to feel its something their browser shuld be doing anyway - not a "goal"

Although I agree its nasty marketing - Turbo is a real benefit to people on slow net connections, such as a mobile. It basically proxies through Opera's servers and compresses everything before sending it to the phone. So as much as a clog is something too big increading pressure on a limited throughput - Turbo does unclog your connection

What I think is news is there seem to more browsers that support the tag that websites that use it. Must be a first for a new feature of HTML.

The problem is not intel selling high quality goods for a low price. The problem is intel using their size and market dominance to threaten retailers into not using competitors products. Intel have been ensuring by force that AMD are not even getting a chance to hit "shelves" with their products. That really is a bad things for everyone.

Right, so all those times Sun took BSD code and closed it screwing over the users, doesn't count? Or SGI? Or BSDI. Or MicroSoft.

Sorry who has been screwed over here. I don't remember Sun stopping me using the code as well. Just not their changes to the code. I have lost nothing - you have lost nothing - the original author has lost nothing. We have all gained with Sun, Microsoft etc having better code.

all of the work that went into BSD was stolen by Apple and Macs don't allow proper code sharing.

But what has *BSD lost because of this? At the end of the day there was no theft involved. Its like the whole file-sharing and "stealing movies" argument. The original "owner" has not lost a thing. On the plus side the world has a much improved OS that has a chance of breaking a monopoly.
