Comment Orwell and Brin (Score 2, Interesting) 238

Nothing is new under the sun...

Orwell of course predicted this type of thing but not quite in the same way. Had he lived a bit longer I'm sure he would have extrapolated emerging technologies to this sort of thing - videotaping people and sending it in.

David Brin did exactly that in his novel Earth. Before the onset of the WWW and when the internet was still in its infancy he extrapolated and predicted people wearing special glasses that could record everything. If they witnessed a crime they could then easily upload the video to the proper authorities with incredible ease.

In most places and most times, you can buy a place for a smaller monthly payment than you can rent it.[1]

I don't know this "most places" you speak of... where are they? In my experience in most cities where most people live cost of owning a house is 3-4x renting.

I currently rent a studio @ 920/mo. If I wanted to buy a house in the city I live in I would be paying 3-4k/mo. Unless I wanted to live in a leaky shack - then it might be just 2k/mo.

And don't get me started on all the condos going up everywhere - even now. Advertising for new homes "Starting at just $1 Million"

That and my less then perfect credit and I would be lucky to be able to buy a doghouse.

We are currently switching from Symantec to Vipre by Sunbelt Software. We used to use a combination of Symantec and Counterspy (by Sunbelt) and anytime there was an issue Counterspy caught it and symantec did nothing.

Vipre seems to do a really good job without hogging resources. Take a look at it if you need an enterprise solution.

It's funny. Laugh.
