Comment eeebuntu (Score 2, Interesting) 466

So far I have tried the following operating systems in this order:

vLited Vista Home
Ubuntu eee
eeebuntu Standard
nLited XP
eeebuntu NetBookRemix.

Just last night I switched back from XP to eeebuntu 2.0 NBR. Why? Well, it just works beautifully OOTB with my 701SD and the GUI works well with the 7" screen. All I had to do was edit my fstab to automatically mount my Airdisk and media shares on my Vista box and that was that. I use it to browse the web, edit/view spreadsheets and to remote into some of my home computers. ZSNES is also a crucial download.

I honestly don't really notice the battery drain. If I want to compute for 2+ hours, I will use my desktop to avoid sore wrists by using the 701SD's small keyboard.

My fastest time is 17 seconds from the time the card goes in until the card comes out. That includes entering my PIN, selecting chequeing/withdrawal, amount of money, dispense money, give me back my card. Not all ATMs will give me that time due to different menus/longer authentication times etc. Don't ask me why I would time something so stupid in my day to day life, but I pride myself at quick withdrawals. Wait a minute...

Submission + - Cassini's Best Images (ciclops.org)

CheshireCatCO writes: The winners of the best images from the Cassini spacecraft (taken since Cassini images of Saturn were first acquired in February 2004) have been announced. The winner of best color image is In Saturn's Shadow, the stunning, high-phase portrait of Saturn from opposite the Sun. Winners of best black-and-white and best movie (both categories resulted in ties) are also available.
It's funny. Laugh.

Submission + - iPhone shunned by London

TobyToadstool writes: There's an extremely strange video on CNET showing a giant, depressed iPhone wandering the streets of London. It eats fried chicken, fights its way through the London Tube, does its laundry, and gets stuck in a phone box. Then the video shows it going to the cinema and narrowly avoiding a mugging. Stranger still, no one in London seems to be paying it any attention at all. By far the weirdest and funniest take on the iPhone I've seen so far.
