I was looking at it from an "intellectual property" point of view, I'm not talking about remakes.
I have recently run into this in my job where someone copied one of our products almost exactly, but with poorer quality materials that don't work as well, and I think this could damage the reputation of our product. In this I think there's fair game for me to make the comparison to a Xx0CAMRIPxX with shitty sound and people coughing all the way through compared to seeing a film in the cinema.
It is essentially the same, but nowhere near as good as the original, and I think that could put someone off buying the film at a later date.
