Look at the numbers a different way. 760 Million infections versus 36 million. So, you're 21 times more likely to get Covid than flu. With the death rates you calculated, which are pretty similar, that's a ratio of 760M * 0.0013 / 36M * 0.0017 which is 16.14. That's means even with a similar death rate, the easier spread of Covid means that the average person is 16.14 times more likely to die of Covid than flu.
