SEGA is not sending these notices. They contract a brand protection firm. The likes of BrandShield Ltd., BrandVerity Inc., Corporation Service Company, Custodian Solutions, EnablonS.A., etc. Those use Web crawling and analysis software - usually developed in-house - and they act as the copyright holderâ(TM)s legal representatives. The notices are automated and are sent out by a truckload every day. Nobody is checking them for accuracy. All this tells me the chances of a significant penalty for an erroneous DCMA take-down notice are virtually zero.

Since 2005 the GNOME Foundation has been promising a 10% desktop market share. Sixteen years later Linux desktops (including GNOME) account for less than 2%. The GNOME desktop is still a mishmash of loosely-fitting bloatware sucking the life out of, thankfully, only about 2% of laptops around the world.

You may be missing the point here. There are colleges that specialize in online education and are far better situated for that. If thatâ(TM)s what people want, thatâ(TM)s where theyâ(TM)ll go. A couple month back I fixed a leaky toilet. It was a lot of work and I think I did a good job. Does this mean I can advertise my services as a plumber? If I did, the customers might be disappointed and ask for their money back. And nobody would blame them.

You canâ(TM)t separate lectures from the rest of the advertised service package. Essentially, youâ(TM)re trying to convince me that a university is as good as watching a YouTube video and exchanging emails, and we all know this is not so. Is it possible to remotely deliver some of the promised service at some level of quality? Probably, even though no university can empirically prove this. And that partial delivery of contracted work is what the universities should be charging for. But it should be up to the students to decide if they still want this modified product.
