Many years ago, I had a really bad attitude. I was lazy and resentful. Flippant and disrespectful. My boss was my friend and over beers he told me to straighten my ass out. I didn't. He put me on and EIP and I realized I had wandered too far. That was my wake up call and I straightened my attitude out. It was embarrassing but it worked for me.

OTOH I have seen it misused too, but not on me.

I had an 80GB SSD and a 4TB data drive. One day I found that my 80GB C; drive was full. Turns out MS was "Preparing" me for my free Windows 10 upgrade. I figured SSDs were getting cheaper so I bought a 500GB. I installed Debian on it and I'm using the old 80GB as my swap partition.

No regrets.

Submission + - God didn't make man; man made gods (latimes.com)

dnormant writes: In recent years scientists specializing in the mind have begun to unravel religion's "DNA." They have produced robust theories, backed by empirical evidence (including "imaging" studies of the brain at work), that support the conclusion that it was humans who created God, not the other way around.

Study Finds Most Would Become Supervillians If Given Powers 419

It probably comes as no surprise, but researchers have found that most of us would gladly put on a mask and fight do-gooders if given super powers. From the article: "But power also acts like strong cologne that affects both the wearer and those within smelling distance, Galinsky noted. The person gains an enhanced sense of their importance, and other people may regard them with greater respect as well as extend leniency toward their actions. That combination makes for an easy slide into corruption."

Another danger with the dry Arizona heat is dehydration. I was riding my bike home from work when it was only 112f. I pulled up to a stop light and nearly fainted. I knew what it was so I found a place for a drink of water. BTW, it rarely hits 120f here, but it hurts when it does!
