Says more about Elonâ(TM)s intelligence than AIâ(TM)s
I visited Lowell Observatory Friday night. No mention was made of the legislation. But I did get to see the telescope Tombaugh made from discarded farm equipment, complete with a coke can for an aperture cover (not the one he used to make the Pluto observations), and Lowellâ(TM)s old telescope, still in use today. Rather than âlegislating ignoranceâ(TM) as the Slashdot reader so dismissively asserts, I find this to be a fun acknowledgment of Lowellâ(TM)s (who did the math to suggest it was out there) and Tombaughâ(TM)s achievement.
Went to YouTube last night and lo and behold, no recommendations. Oh well, I know the channels I like, the types of stuff. Quick search later and there's all recommendations related to that search. Watch a couple vids, search a channel, more results. Within an hour of tube of random YouTube viewing, it looks like it used to in my logged in days. Do miss leaving comments and seeing responses. Not.
The enshittification continues. When I got the full block, I logged out and deleted cookies and continue ad-free unabated. Their recommendations had gotten worse and worse, so nothing of value was lost. The near daily updates to Adblock Pro that I get suggest there's a vigorous war going on in the background.
Ooop, meant to uprate this, not downrate it. Posting this to clear that.
Let it die after adding a Copilot key to their keyboards? Hardly.
I go the email, filtered straight to spam of course. I'm considering filling out the form, but I also know the chances of my receiving $0.15, much less $15, are slim and none. I've filled out a few of these over the years (Honda hybrid mpg, BCBS overcharges) and I'm still waiting.
This. Exactly what came to mind as I read this

Which is worse? That there is a 21st century occupation called "internet influencer", or that one of the first occupations generative AI directly threatens is influencers. Oh, the irony.
When they start calling it Web 4.0, thatâ(TM)s when you know the generative AI goose is cooked.
...said no Google user ever. Me: what the f... does this error mean? Google: we don't know either, but get BeStLogAnalyzer3000 for 15% off! Even my freakin' BANK is pushing (and I mean _pushing_) discount coupons when I log into their site to get a balance.
Drones deliver medical supplies to hospitals in Rwanda. (just Google the previous sentence) That is the use case for drone delivery, high value, time sensitive products delivered by air where the road infrastructure is iffy at best. Amazon will already bring any small geegaw to me by the end of the day, the drone just isn't the best way to do it.
On the eighth day, God created FORTRAN.
