The API charge was to kill off apps that were making money off of reddits back as well as eliminate the automod hell that has been created on that site.
Mods are also on the take with 3rd parties to dictate discourse on the more popular subs. Those mods are mad that they have to pay part of their cash to reddit now to use their hell tools.
Reddit treatment of their mods is great. Theyre all nearly universal scumbags who do it for free and this is a reminder that they're under the foot of a corporation and to know their place.
I used to loathe reddit but now love it because of their treatment. I hope most mods get banned.
