AppleTV app is supported on these devices from Samsung, Roku, Amazon, LG, and Visio.
The joint venture with Micron ended years ago.
The only SD card my 3D printer uses is the one that's in the Raspberry Pi attached to the printer and running Octoprint.
Check out Hubitat Elevation. I'm in the process of moving from Wink right now. My only gripe so far is needing to buy a Lutron hub for my Caseta switches that Wink had built into the hub. I also run Homebridge on a Raspberry Pi to bring all my devices into the Home app.

It could need it for a number of reasons. Taking videos with sound, using speech-to-text, etc. I still haven't given it access to the microphone since I use the built-in camera for video and photos and don't use speech-to-text, but there are legitimate reasons for it.
You're an AC that works at Teleperformance or some other call center, and you think you know what you're talking about. No Apple ID is required to create an account on a Mac or to download updates.

As he stated, you do need an Apple ID for the App Store and iCloud features.
This was my thought, when MIPS is mentioned, I automatically thing SGI. Then I realized that I'm old (not really) and that my memory is even longer than they assume their readers have. Of course, this is slashdot, so my expectation was that the user base that's left here (since I doubt they're adding to their user base) is as old or older than I am.
The Apple Store replaced mine under AppleCare+ about a month ago. It was a crapshoot as to when the problem would rear its head, but it did happen while I was near an Apple Store, so I took it in and they handed me a new one.
Don't forget the Microsoft Kin that lasted just over a year (May 2010 to August 2011 [though the Kin website was shuttered in January of 2011.])
100% false. I've switched my SIM between my iPhone 6 and my Galaxy S5 and have no problems sending text messages to/from the Android device. When I put the SIM back into the iPhone, iMessage is re-enabled.

I considered getting one but I just don't like Amazon and I'm neck deep in Google services (which I like) and the Echo does't work with them. I will be looking closely at the Google version and just might get it of not to expensive.
They did add Google calendar functionality to the Echo last month. Usage instructions here.

Six now, since adding a thermostat to the bedroom (its heating/cooling system is separate from the rest of the house.) I got quite a chuckle out of the thought of you searching my history for that little nugget of information; you're taking this very personally.
And we're discussing this on slashdot, where I'd argue that most readers have an interest in shiny tech, though I know two other people (who are not gadget nerds like me) that own Echos.
