An anonymous reader writes: Way back in 2006 AMD shocked the technology world by acquiring Canadian graphics company Array Technologies Inc (ATI). Since that time ATI's Radeon graphics cards have become one of AMD's major strengths, thanks largely to the company's CPUs slipping behind Intel's in the performance stakes. From today, AMD will be dropping "ATI" from its branding altogether. It's a bold move by AMD, even if it has been expected since AMD acquired ATI in 2006. On one hand the ATI brand is 25 years old, and bears a long legacy in the graphics market. On the other hand, however, the Radeon brand has been at the core of ATI's success in the past decade. The new logos are quite similar to the old ones, even to the degree that the change from AMD to ATI is barely noticeable at first glance. We will see if this has any lasting impact when the next generation of Radeon cards is released later this year.

Good thing education isn't a business, then. No matter what the economy is doing, we need teachers teaching kids. That's why schools don't respond to the same economic pressures as businesses, because they're a vital public service.

Ugh. You should be ready to slam on the brakes at any time. Don't ride so close that if you have to come to a sudden stop you'll hit the person in front of you. Just leave space.
I love how people come up with these scenarios where it's less their fault for driving dangerously. If you hit someone in front of you, you were being unsafe. End of story.

mpawlo was one of many readers who have sent news that a warrant has been issued in Stockholm, Sweden for WikiLeaks founder and spokesman Julian Assange. The investigation apparently involves "one report of rape and one report of harassment." The story was broken by Swedish tabloid Expressen (original in Swedish), and later picked up by more reputable sources like CNN and the BBC, who say the warrant has been confirmed by Swedish authorities. The WikiLeaks Twitter feed has commented three times about the charges so far, first saying they were warned of 'dirty tricks,' then that they hadn't been contacted by Swedish police, and then a statement from Assange saying the charges are without basis.
Update: 08/21 15:58 GMT by S : Multiple sources are now reporting that the warrant for Assange's arrest has been withdrawn. Aftonbladet has coverage in Swedish. Chief prosecutor Eva Finne said, "I don't think there is reason to suspect that he has committed rape."

No, you shouldn't need split-second response time when driving. You should be predicting what the traffic is going to do and keeping a safe distance from cars in front of you. You aren't going to save any significant amount of time driving through a city speeding and tailgating.

Do I buy the right to listen to that song? Let's say I bought the Spice Girls record back in 1997, and I suddenly want to listen to it. Unfortunately it's old, and horribly scratched up. Do I need to go out to a store and buy a new copy? Is it really immoral to pretend i made a copy of it and download it from bittorrent? Thus, is that copy of Spice Girls really illegal in my case?
