They control the OS. It is end-to-end encrypted, so it can't be snooped or MITMed, but they control the 'end' so it doesn't matter.

China's total CO2 emissions from fossil fuels are just under double the US.

China produces around 50% of emissions of the US - India about 10%. "Africa" - barely worth measuring. All per person, of course.
In total, China and India produce about 35% of the CO2 with 25% of the people.
The US produces 15% of the CO2 with 4% of the population.
And of course a lot of China's CO2 is generated producing products consumed BY THE WEST.
Your random inclusion of Africa shows a) you have no idea what you are taking annoy b) you're bigoted.
For the same of amount of "work done", using the same type of fuel, yes it does. That's exactly what it means.
Of course the best way to reduce emissions here would be to just not travel such a long distance so regularly.
